Medicine Wheel Goal Setting

Christine M'Lot is an Anishinaabe educator and curriculum developer from Winnipeg, Manitoba. She created this "Medicine Wheel Goal Setting" lesson as a way to teach about Indigenous theories of wellness relating to all parts of the self: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. The lesson includes a fusion of strategies from Anishinaabe culture and the field of positive psychology to help students set goals that they are more likely to accomplish. Students will set goals in each category in order to facilitate holism, balance, and wellness in their lives. Students will learn the value of self-care, including teachings related to coping mechanisms.
