In this lesson, Casey & Dakota walk us through creating a website through Wix. You’ll need an email address and you can sign up for free initially. The ADI build option lets Wix do all the hard work for you coding the site so you don’t have to become a coder to start your online business journey.
Here’s how to get started.
Pick your site type. In the lesson, Dakota picked “Online Clothing Store”.
Select the functions you want. Dakota chose instagram feed, subscribe form and chat.
Customize your store. Add the name, your profile image, brand palette and the template you want for your site.
Populate your website. Include information about you, your brand, your products or services.
Check mobile preview. Have a look at how your website is going to look in mobile view because most people will be looking at it on their phones.
Add your products. Delete the products that are pre-populated and create your own. Click “new product”, specify if it’s digital or physical, add photos (Dakota’s example was created in Printify), set a price and identify if it’s a sale price, and include a product description.
Set your product options. Include the colours and sizes your product comes in.The “manage pricing” section helps you track your inventory.
Get ready to ship. Modify the shipping prices and policies in the Settings section.
Help people buy. Set up payment methods so customers can buy your products.
Set your address. Add your domain through Wix.
Pick a hosting plan. This will remove the ads on your site
Once you’ve got orders coming in, the Store Orders section will help you track incoming funds and shipments you have to fulfill. When your shop is set up, you’re ready to make sales and build your brand!
